I've never really been a fan of goalies. I grew up watching John Davidson's blooper vids and Don Cherry complaining about flaky goalies but that's not to say that in my time there haven't been some of the best of all time in Patrick Roy, Andy Moog, Grant Fuhr, Dominek Hasek, Martin Brodeur, Curtis Joseph, Ed Belfour, Mike Richter, Tom Barrasso, Ron Hextall, etc.

After the Jump I'm going to talk about who I think are the best 30-ish goalies coming into 2012-13.

To New York:

Rick Nash
Steven Delisle
Conditional 3rd round pick in 2013
To Columbus:

Brandon Dubinsky
Artem Anisimov
Tim Erixon
1st round pick in 2013
I don't mind the deal for Columbus given the circumstances. Dubinsky is a great player and very hard working. Erixon is an excellent cerebral blue liner that can only add to CBS's already burgeoning back end. Anisimov could go either way really, hopefully the good way given the Blue Jackets history with russian forwards and that 1st round pick next year brings their tally to 3 in what is expected to be a very deep draft.

For the Rangers, they get a big skillful right wing that has the potential to put up big numbers on a line with Brad Richards and when healthy, Marian Gaborik. It's kind of scary when you think about it.

Why don't they just take the Atlantic division and create a miniature super league. The star power just in that division alone is unsettling. Crosby, Malkin, Fleury, Giroux, Richards, Gaborik, Lundqvist, Nash, Kovalchuk, and Tavares are only a few of the players that ply their trade there...

I've been reading quite a bit about how Magnus Paajarvi should start the season in the American Hockey League with the Oklahoma City Barons or if he's lucky on the 3rd line with the Oilers. After the jump you'll see a small clip of what Paajarvi has done in the past and my reasons to believe why he'll be an important player on the Edmonton Oilers.

So the Flyers have gotten sick and tired of waiting to make a deal with Nashville Predators GM David Poile and have decided to offer sheet Shea Weber.

14 YEARS AT $100 MILLION DOLLARS +.....

Lots to consider here in regards to if Poile matches or accepts the paltry compensation, that being four late 1st round picks.

- How is the contract structured? Is it front loaded?
- How will Chris Pronger fit into Philly's plans or will he even be a consideration now?
- Does Poile want a disgruntled Star defenseman on his team for the next 14 years?
- Is the young Predators blueline ready to take over?

The Preds have approximately $29 Million dollars in cap space available according to Capgeek. So in theory, they could match the offer sheet, wait a year and then deal him.

Can you imagine the Flyers defense if the Preds walk...

Weber-Pronger
Timonen-Meszaros
Coburn-Schenn
Grossman

Could it all lead into the flyers dealing for Bobby Ryan? Giving up Coburn and Voracek in a package would be a good start...

All in all, these kind of deals being made in the wake of CBA negotiations are hilarious. Are the owners expecting to lose and just getting all of this out of the way or maybe they're expecting to win and getting as much done in the time frame they have...

It's ridiculously early to be yakking about the 2013 World Juniors but I can't help but think... Is our defence stacked or what? There is the potential to send six no.1 dmen to Ufa to claim gold this year. Who you ask? Well after the jump I'll not only talk about our defence but the rest of the team too.

But before that, please take the time to check out my Facebook and my Twitter page @beerleagueheroe.

Hey all! I went on a little vacation there and kind of missed a bit of the juicy happenings going on in Oilerland and hockey in general. But that just means I get to look back in hindsight instead of trying to predict the future…drunkenly

So, with that said I let you know what you can look forward to in the near future.

I can't believe I missed Morgan Rielly in my mock draft. Scouts and pundits alike all compare this guy to my favorite defenseman of all time, Paul Coffey. Are the Portland Winterhawks stacked on the blueline or what? Joe Morrow, Morgan Rielly, Derrick Pouliot, Troy Rutkowski, Tyler Wotherspoon... WOW! That says a lot for the Edmonton Oil Kings who defeated the Winter Hawks for the WHL Championship.

With that said I believe he'll go between the 5th and no later than 10th. He's far too good a prospect and as an Oilers fan, I'd find a way to get him before Ryan Murray.
